A divorced woman looking for a rishta in Pakistan encounters a market that has not caught up with how common divorce has become. This is written plainly because euphemism has not served anyone well here.

What arrives, and what to refuse. Expect proposals from significantly older men, from men seeking a second wife alongside an existing one, and from families who frame the match as a rescue. There is nothing wrong with an older husband or with being a second wife where that is a genuine, informed and legally proper choice. There is a great deal wrong with the assumption that a divorced woman should be grateful for whatever appears. You are entitled to refuse, repeatedly, without apology.

Talk about the children first, not last. If you have children, their position is the central question and it should be settled early, not discovered later. Where will they live? Will he support them financially, and is he willing to put that in writing? What relationship does he expect with them? Under Pakistani law custody arrangements for the mother can be affected by remarriage, and it is worth understanding your position from a family lawyer before, not after.

The paperwork. Have your divorce certificate from the Union Council, your khula decree if applicable, and the completed iddat period documented. Families will ask, and having it ready ends the questioning quickly instead of letting it become an interrogation.

Say what happened, once. You owe a serious prospect an honest account of why the first marriage ended. You do not owe it to every family that enquires, and you do not owe anyone a detailed narration of the worst period of your life. A short, factual explanation is enough. Anyone who presses for more before committing to anything is telling you something about how they will behave later.

Involve someone who will hold the line. A brother, a father, an uncle, or a friend who will say no on your behalf when you are tired of saying it. The pressure in a second-marriage search comes not from one difficult family but from the cumulative weight of many, and it wears people down.

On our own service. Divorced, widowed, khula and separated members are listed identically to everyone else. No separate section, no marker, no reduced fee that would imply a reduced status. Marital status is a field on the profile like education or city, and members filter on it as they choose.

If the search is taking longer than you hoped, that is the market, not a verdict on you.
