Families seeking a hafiz or hafiza are usually after a household with a particular religious character, not a credential. The most useful conversations are about daily practice rather than certificates.

Is the hifz current?

Memorisation fades without regular revision. Asking whether daily dawr is maintained is a normal, respectful question and the answer tells you more than a certificate.

Where was the hifz completed?

The madrassa or academy, and whether there is a sanad. Many complete hifz alongside school; some continue to Dars-e-Nizami or Shahadat-ul-Alamia.

What is the intended household practice?

Prayer in congregation, the children's Quran education, women's dress, family finance and interest, gatherings and music. These are the questions that actually determine whether a household will be comfortable.

What is the occupation?

A hafiz may be an imam, a teacher, an engineer or a businessman. The hifz describes one part of a person. Ask about the rest.

What to verify

None of this is adversarial. Both families are doing it, and doing it openly is faster and less awkward than finding out slowly through rumour.

The mistake that costs most here
