Quality and verification
A matrimonial database is only worth what its worst profile is worth. The email address behind every profile is confirmed by a link before it appears, and one of our rishta consultants reviews the profile after that. Here is exactly what each of those does, everything we still do not check, and how to hold us to all of it.
Email first, then a reader
A link sent to the address you registered with has to be clicked before the profile appears anywhere. Once it is live, a rishta consultant reads it, and reads it again when something substantial changes. Two different things, in that order.
Photographs screened
Every upload is screened automatically before it is stored, and scenery, logos, cars and screenshots are refused. It is a machine check, not proof of identity. Photographs are optional, and stay locked until the member accepts a request.
Reported, then reviewed
Any member can report a profile. A person reviews every report, usually within 24 hours, and fake or abusive profiles are removed.
What we do not check
Identity documents, employment, income, property, marital status, health, criminal history. None of it. Please do those checks yourself, and our guides show you how.
Two checks, and we name both.
Every Pakistani matrimonial site in the market advertises “verified profiles”. Almost none of them will tell you what was verified. We will: a link confirms the email address before the profile appears, and a rishta consultant reads the profile after it has gone live. That is the whole of it, and we would rather name it than sell you a badge. Neither one is verification, and the two are not the same thing.
- Second: what the consultant reads, once a profile is liveA rishta consultant reads each published profile in full and weighs it against itself: whether the ages, dates, education, work and family details are consistent, whether the wording has been lifted from another listing, whether the same person already holds an account, whether it is really an agency or a business posting, and whether anything in it is abusive, indecent or commercial. Profiles are read again when a member changes something substantial. What does not stand up is corrected with the member or taken down. Nothing is held in a queue while that happens and no profile is paused for it.
- First: what the email check does, before a profile appearsWe send a link to the address given at registration. Until somebody clicks it the profile does not appear on any page, in any search, or in any feed. One address can hold one account. That stops bulk signups, throwaway addresses and the same person listing themselves five times.
- What neither of them doesA careful read is not identity verification, and nor is confirming an email address. Neither is a guarantee that a member’s identity, background, family or circumstances are as described. Between them they do not confirm the name, the age, the city, the education, the job, the income, the family, the marital status, or that the photograph is of the person in the profile. Nobody at ByahMe has seen a document belonging to any member.
- Why we have not added moreIdentity checks would mean holding a copy of every member’s CNIC on a server. That is a file worth stealing, and a rishta site is not where it belongs. We would rather do two honest things and name them both than keep a database we cannot promise to protect.
What gets a profile removed
Profiles are removed without refund where we find any of the following. Most come to us through member reports, which is why reporting matters.
- A false identity, or photographs that are not of the member.
- An existing marriage not disclosed on the profile.
- Misrepresented immigration status — claiming citizenship or permanent residency that does not exist.
- Requests for money, investment, visa sponsorship fees or gifts from other members.
- Sharing another member's photographs or contact details onward.
- Abusive, sexual or harassing conduct in any form.
- Using the platform to advertise a business or another service.
- Anyone under 18, or anyone not legally free to marry.
How we handle reports
Every profile carries a report link, and reporting costs nothing and uses no token. A report goes straight into a queue a person works through, usually within 24 hours, and a copy reaches complaints@byahme.com the moment you send it. You can also write to that address directly with a profile ID if you would rather not be logged in.
We look at the profile itself, at the account’s request history, and at whatever evidence you attach. Outcomes are a warning, a temporary suspension, or permanent removal with no refund. Where the same account has been reported by more than one member, it goes to the front of the queue.
The member you report is never told who reported them. They are told what the problem was, so that they can answer it, and not a word more. We will confirm to you that action was taken, but not which action, because telling you that would breach the other member’s privacy in exactly the way you trusted us not to breach yours.
What you can check for yourself
Everything above is a claim we make about ourselves. These five things you can confirm in a few minutes without taking our word for any of it.
- View the page source. Not one member’s age, city, biradari or profession is in it. The listings arrive after the page loads, from a feed marked noindex, so no member is ever filed in a search engine under their own biodata.
- Look for a member count. There is not one anywhere on this site, because we would have to stand behind it. Treat any rishta site that advertises a round number as advertising.
- Read clause 9 of the terms. The contract you agree to says the same thing this page says: an editorial review and a check on the email address, no background checks, and no verification badges issued.
- Send a report and see what comes back. Write to complaints@byahme.com with a profile ID. A person replies.
What we are still working on
A quality page that lists only strengths is a sales page. These are the gaps, said plainly.
- We cannot check what anybody tells us. A member can claim a degree, a salary, a job or an immigration status that is not true, and nothing on our side would catch it. Our verification checklist exists because that work is genuinely yours to do.
- A read is not a background check. A rishta consultant reads every published profile and every report, which catches a profile that contradicts itself or is plainly not what it claims. It does not catch a dowry demand made privately, a salary quietly inflated, or a photograph recycled from somewhere we have never seen, and we would rather say so than imply a filter that does not exist.
- The photo screen is deliberately forgiving. It is tuned to let a real member’s awkward photograph through rather than reject it, which means the occasional unsuitable image reaches us instead. Those come down when they are reported.
Five things a public listing does not carry
Quality is not only about keeping bad profiles out. It is about how little of a good member is exposed in the first place. A listing on this site is a biodata, not an identity.
- The photograph. Never shown, never named in the page, and served through a script that refuses anyone the member has not accepted.
- The WhatsApp number. Held and released by the member, one person at a time.
- The email address. It is never published to anybody, at any price, ever.
- The exact address. City and country only. No area, no street, no landmark.
- The date of birth. Pages show an age in years, worked out when the page loads.
There is no messaging on this site either, so nobody can open a conversation with a member who has not asked for one. The privacy policy sets out what we store and for how long.
