Rishta in Wazirabad

Wazirabad makes the country’s knives, scissors and surgical instruments, sits where the Grand Trunk Road crosses the Chenab, and was carved out of Gujranwala as a district of its own in 2022 — so the older CNICs in the same house still say Gujranwala.

Matrimonial matches in Wazirabad

Wazirabad is a manufacturing town that happens to sit in farming country, and almost every rishta here turns on which of those two the family actually lives on. The names you meet most are Jatt — Chatha, Virk, Cheema, Tarar — along with Kashmiri, Arain, Rajput, Gujjar and Sheikh households, and a long-settled population of craft families whose standing in the town comes from the trade rather than from land. On a profile from here the biradari field tells you less than usual, because a Chatha with eight acres near Alipur Chatha and a Chatha running a buffing shop off Sialkot Road are two different proposals under one name.

The town is not only its city limits. Alipur Chatha and Nizamabad are towns of their own, twenty-five to forty-five minutes out along their own roads, with their own markets and their own marriage circles — they are not, as this page used to say, roads inside Wazirabad city. Inside the city, families cluster around Katchehry Road and the Chowk Hakiman quarter, the mohallas behind the railway station, Nizamabad Road, Sialkot Road, Jalalpur Road and the newer housing out along the bypass. Ask which of those, and whether it is the old city or the bypass side, because it predicts the house, the household size and how far the women of the family travel on an ordinary day.

Professionally the pattern is narrower than the province as a whole: cutlery and surgical instrument work in every form it takes, farming on the canal land, transport and trade along the Grand Trunk Road, government service, and a large number of men working in Europe — Greece, Spain, Italy and Portugal far more than Britain. The sections below are about reading those two things properly, because a one-word answer to what does he do hides more in Wazirabad than almost anywhere else in Punjab.

On ByahMe, a Wazirabad profile shows everything a family actually needs to judge a match: age, height, education, profession, caste and biradari, sect, family type, father’s occupation, and written partner preferences. What stays hidden is the photograph and the WhatsApp number. Those unlock only when the member accepts your request — one request, one decision, no messaging, no back-and-forth with strangers.

Reading a Wazirabad profile properly

Four men can all write cutlery business

This is the single most useful thing to know about rishta here. The words cutlery business, surgical instruments or factory on a Wazirabad profile cover at least four positions that have almost nothing in common, and families regularly confuse the lowest with the highest because the vocabulary is the same.

The first is a man who owns a registered unit with his own brand, his own packing and his own export orders, or who supplies a Sialkot exporter directly. He carries stock, he carries receivables, and in a bad year he carries both. The second is a job-work karkhana: a small shop of four to fifteen men doing one operation — forging, grinding, buffing, handle fitting, heat treatment, laser marking — on goods that belong to somebody else, paid by the dozen or by the gross. The owner of that shop is a businessman in the sense that the money is his own, but he does not own the product, he does not meet the buyer, and his income rises and falls with one or two firms placing work. The third is a wage or piece-rate worker inside somebody else’s karkhana, often a highly skilled one. The fourth owns no workshop at all: he buys finished goods from the units, packs them under a name and sells or exports them, which is a trading business with a completely different risk.

So ask the question in a form that cannot be answered in one word. Is the work yours or job work. Do you own the premises or rent them. How many men. Which operation. Who are you supplying — the local market, a Sialkot exporter, or buyers abroad. Do you have a sales tax registration. Not one of those questions is rude in this town; they are the questions one Wazirabad family asks another before it asks anything about the boy himself. The answers also tell you how steady the money is, which matters more for a daughter than the headline figure: a job-work shop with two regular customers can be quieter and safer than a brand with an export order and a bank limit.

The trade is learned under an ustad, not certified at a college

A great many skilled men in Wazirabad entered a workshop at eleven or twelve as a shagird, spent years sweeping and carrying before being allowed to touch a machine, and are now masters of a specific operation — a grinder who can hold an edge, a man who can harden and temper steel by eye, a fitter who can bring a scissor to close along its whole length. On paper he is matric, or less. Nothing on a standard biodata form captures what he actually is, so families filtering on education skip past exactly the men whose skill is the most portable thing in the district.

If you are writing such a profile, do not leave the profession field at labour or factory worker. Write the trade, the operation and the years: fifteen years as a grinder on surgical scissors, or eight years on heat treatment, or a hand polisher who also trains shagirds. Add whether he works in a unit, runs his own shop, or does both — many do piece work in the season and their own work the rest of the year. If he holds a technical certificate from a vocational institute, say which one, because it is uncommon enough to be worth stating.

If you are reading such a profile, judge it the way the town does. Ask which operation, how long, in which unit, and whether he has his own tools. A master of one operation with his own hand tools and a reputation among four or five karkhanas has a kind of security that a matriculate clerk does not, and he can set up for himself with very little capital. The honest caution runs the other way too: the trade is hard on the body, grinding and polishing shops are dusty and loud, and hearing and chest complaints are real in men who have spent twenty years in them. A family is entitled to ask about health plainly, and a profile that mentions it first is more trustworthy, not less.

Work done at home is work, and it is usually a woman’s

A large part of the finishing in this trade leaves the workshops and is done in houses — hand polishing, cleaning, checking, oiling, sorting by size, and the packing of blister cards and boxes, paid by the piece and collected by a contractor. In thousands of Wazirabad households that income is earned by the women of the family, at home, around everything else they do, and it is almost never written on a biodata because nobody thinks of it as a job.

It should be written. It is skilled, it is real money, and it tells a reading family something true: that this household manages work and home together, and that a bride from it has a trade in her hands. It also saves a misunderstanding in the other direction. If a boy’s family expects that their daughter-in-law will take on packing work after the wedding, or expects that she will not, that is a condition and it belongs in the conversation before the engagement, not after. Say plainly which it is. The same applies to the daughters of trading and farming families who have been running the account books at home for years, and to the growing number of Wazirabad women in teaching, nursing, Lady Health Worker posts, the colleges and the banks — write the post, the employer and whether she intends to continue it after marriage, because the second half of that sentence is the half that gets argued about later.

Greece and Spain: ask for the status, not the salary

Wazirabad and the villages around it send men to southern Europe in numbers, and that side of the district is not the same as the Britain-and-Norway migration of the districts just north of here. A man in Athens, Barcelona, Murcia or the Italian south may have been there for ten or fifteen years, may be working steadily in a restaurant, a farm, a warehouse or a workshop, and may still have no residence permit. That one fact changes a rishta completely, so it is the first thing to establish and the last thing people ask about.

Put it as a document question. Does he hold a residence permit, and until when. Is it a work permit or a humanitarian or asylum-based stay. Is an application pending, filed when, with what advice. Does he hold citizenship. Can he leave the country and return — because a man without papers cannot fly home for his own nikah, and a nikah by proxy with a wakeel is lawful but has to be planned deliberately, with the wedding and the paperwork arranged around it rather than discovered two weeks beforehand. Then ask the question that follows: if the marriage happens, where would the couple live, for how long, and on what. Family reunification in those countries depends on the permit, on income thresholds and on housing, and it can take years from a man with status and never arrive at all for a man without it.

None of this is a reason to decline such a proposal. Many of these marriages are solid and the money sent home is what built the house the meeting takes place in. It is a reason to be exact. A family that says openly that the permit is three years away, that the first years will be spent apart with the bride in the joint family at home, and that there is a plan for how she will live those years, is offering a straighter deal than a family that answers he is settled in Europe and leaves you to assume the rest.

Which district do your papers say

Wazirabad became a district in its own right in 2022, taking in Wazirabad and Alipur Chatha tehsils; before that it was a tehsil of Gujranwala. The practical result is that one household can hold documents saying both. The father’s CNIC and the older children’s matric certificates very likely say Gujranwala, a recently issued card may say Wazirabad, and the domicile a son needs for a job application is its own question again. None of that is a problem, but it does mean two things for a search.

First, write the address the way your documents write it and add the other name in the same line — Wazirabad, Gujranwala district — so that a family searching either way finds you. Second, when you search, do not trust one district filter to show you everybody. Many members from these towns registered themselves under Gujranwala out of habit, and some under Sialkot because that is where the work or the college is. Run the search for Wazirabad, then run it for Gujranwala and read for Alipur Chatha, Nizamabad, Ahmad Nagar, Sohdra and the villages, and keep Gujrat and Hafizabad open as well. Mandi Bahauddin is close in kilometres but across the Chenab, which in practice means the bridge and the main road rather than a straight run, so treat it as a real journey when you plan a first meeting — and treat Gujranwala as the town this district still orbits for its hospitals, its courts, its colleges and its railway connections, because that is where a couple from here is most likely to end up needing to be.

Searching Wazirabad profiles

Member details are never published on a public page. Register free and the search opens with full biodata on every profile.

Search Wazirabad, then search Gujranwala

The district is only a few years old, so many members from these towns are still filed under Gujranwala. Run both, read the area line for Alipur Chatha, Nizamabad, Sohdra and Ahmad Nagar, then widen to Gujrat and Hafizabad.

Full biodata, openly

Education, profession, biradari, sect, family type, parents’ occupations and written preferences are all visible to members. Nothing important is held back behind a paywall.

Photos stay locked

Nobody in Wazirabad or anywhere else sees a photograph or a number until that member personally taps Accept. That rule has no exceptions and no administrative override.

Profiles connected to Wazirabad

The six questions a Wazirabad family asks first

City, or one of the towns

Wazirabad city, Alipur Chatha, Nizamabad, Sohdra, Ahmad Nagar or a village on the canal — and old city or bypass side. It decides the house, the household size and how far the women travel on an ordinary day.

Own work or job work

Own unit with a brand and orders, a job-work shop doing one operation for a bigger firm, piece-rate work in somebody else’s karkhana, or trading finished goods with no workshop at all. Four very different proposals.

Which operation, how many years

For a trade man, the thing to ask is the operation and the time in it — grinding, hardening, fitting, polishing — not the schooling. A master of one operation with his own tools has more security than a clerk.

Land, and whether it is still joint

Canal acres near Alipur Chatha or Sohdra are worth asking about plainly: how many, in whose name, cultivated by the family or leased out, and whether the inheritance has actually been divided.

For Europe, the permit

Greece, Spain, Italy, Portugal. Residence permit or not, until when, application pending or none, and can he enter and leave. Then: where would the couple live, for how long, and on what.

Biradari, sect, and the district on the card

Caste and sect are open fields you can filter before you approach. And check which district the documents say — in this house it may be Wazirabad on one card and Gujranwala on another.

Rishta questions from Wazirabad

Do you have rishta profiles in Wazirabad?
Yes, and the list changes every week as new members join and matched members close their profiles. Rather than quote a number that would be out of date by the time you read it, we would rather you register free and look for yourself. One tip specific to here: because Wazirabad only became a district of its own in 2022, a good number of members from these towns are still registered under Gujranwala, so run that search too before you decide the local pool is thin. You can also widen to the rest of Punjab, or to all of Pakistan, from the same filter panel.
Can I see photos of Wazirabad profiles before registering?
No. Photos stay locked on every profile, in Wazirabad and everywhere else. You register, find a profile that fits, and send a photo request. The member sees who you are and decides. That single rule is why families trust us with their daughters’ pictures.
I live in Wazirabad but want a rishta from Pakistan. Is that possible?
Yes, and it is one of the most common searches on the site. Set your own city as Wazirabad and set your partner preference country to Pakistan. You will see profiles from every Pakistani city, filtered by caste, sect, education and family background.
Do you charge extra for members in Wazirabad?
No. One price worldwide, in Pakistani rupees. A family anywhere pays exactly what a family in Lahore pays, by bank transfer, JazzCash or Easypaisa (card payment is built but not switched on yet). And during the launch period membership is free for everyone.
Is there any messaging or chat with Wazirabad members?
None at all. We are not a dating app. Once a WhatsApp request is accepted, the two families talk on WhatsApp directly, the way a rishta has always been arranged. We introduce, then we step back.
Do you accept second marriage, divorced and widowed profiles from Wazirabad?
Yes, on exactly the same terms as everyone else. Divorced, widowed, khula, separated and those seeking a second marriage are listed identically, with no separate section and no marker on the profile. Marital status is a field members filter on, not a category we sort people into.
What professions do Wazirabad members work in?
Every kind. Our profession list runs to more than three hundred entries across twenty groups, from surgeon and software engineer to welder, farmer, tailor, driver, shopkeeper and homemaker. In Wazirabad the ones that come up most are the cutlery and surgical instrument trades in all their forms — unit owner, job-work karkhana owner, grinder, polisher, fitter, heat treatment man, packer, exporter — along with farming on the canal land, transport and trade on the Grand Trunk Road, teaching, government service, and work in Greece, Spain, Italy and Portugal. If a profile says only cutlery business, ask whether the work is his own or job work, and which operation.
How do I know a Wazirabad profile is genuine?
Two things are checked here and we will name both. Every member confirms the email address they registered with, and our rishta consultants review profiles after they are published. That is the whole of it — a mobile number is collected so it can be released when you accept a request, but it is never verified, and we do not collect CNICs at all. A careful read catches a profile that contradicts itself; it is no guarantee that a member’s identity, background, family or circumstances are as described. Beyond those two checks, verification is yours to do, and we would rather say so than sell you a badge that means nothing. Ask for documents, speak to references, and insist on a video call before any meeting.

Searching from Wazirabad, in practice

If you are looking locally

Set your city to Wazirabad and leave the country filter on Pakistan, then run the same search for Gujranwala and read the area line, because a good share of the members from these towns filed themselves under the old district. Gujrat, Hafizabad, Daska and Sialkot are all within a comfortable day and are worth opening early; Mandi Bahauddin is close on a map but across the Chenab, so count the bridge and the main road into the journey rather than the distance.

Filter on biradari and sect first if those matter to your family, then on profession. Leave education a little looser than you normally would while you are reading trade profiles, or you will filter out the skilled men — read what the profession field actually says before you decide. Doing it in that order saves the conversation that ends badly at the third meeting.

When you reach the stage of meeting, remember that this district runs on Gujranwala for its hospitals, its courts and most of its colleges, and that families here think nothing of a morning in Gujranwala and back. If both sides are from the towns, a first sitting at a relative’s house in the city is more usual than a restaurant, and nobody will think the worse of you for suggesting it.

If you are looking for an overseas match

Open the country filter and set the residency field honestly, on both sides. The Wazirabad migration is mostly southern Europe rather than Britain, and status there varies more than in the Gulf: a man can be working steadily for a decade in Athens or Barcelona and still be waiting on papers. Ask for the residence permit, its expiry and whether he can leave and return, before you ask what he earns — and if the answer is that papers are still some years away, ask where the bride would live in the meantime and who she would live with. A family that answers those three questions without being pushed is telling you the truth about the rest.

What is open on every Wazirabad profile

  • Age, height, marital status and children
  • Sect, biradari and mother tongue
  • City, area and residency status
  • Education, field of study and profession
  • Family type, family class, parents' occupations, siblings
  • Written partner preferences, in their own words

What stays locked

  • Photographs, until that member accepts your request
  • The WhatsApp number, until a connection is accepted
  • The email address and the exact address, always

Public cards on this page carry a reference such as BM-PK-1042 rather than a name, and none of it is written into the page itself — the listings arrive after the page loads, from a feed marked noindex, so no member is filed in a search engine under their own biodata.

Photo requests are free. A number request uses one connection token, which is returned in full if the other side declines.
