In most of Punjab the first question is the biradari. In Larkana it is the tribe, and then the branch of it. Abro, Chandio, Soomro, Khuhro, Bhutto, Jatoi, Lashari, Brohi, Magsi, Mirani and the Syed households each hold their own circle, and in much of the district a proposal that comes from outside the tribe is a longer conversation before it is anything else.

"Sindhi" in the biradari field tells a Larkana family nothing it did not already assume. The information is in the tribe and the sub-clan: Abro, Chandio, Soomro, Khuhro, Bhutto, Jatoi, Brohi, Lashari, Magsi, Mirani, Khoso. Families here read those names the way a Lahore family reads a biradari, and they are filtering on exactly that word. A profile that leaves it broad will simply not appear in the searches that were looking for it.
The match is often inside the family, and there is one test worth doing
Marriage within the tribe, and frequently within the extended family, is the norm across this district rather than the exception. That is a settled matter in most households and this is not the place to argue with it. But it does make one cheap medical check worth doing before the nikah rather than after the first child, and almost no family is told about it in time.
It is a blood test, both sides, and it costs very little. We have written it up in plain language rather than leaving it to a doctor's appointment nobody books: cousin marriage and the blood test both families should ask for. If the proposal in front of you is a first cousin, read it before the mangni, not after.
Chandka is the name that carries
The medical college and the teaching hospital are the single strongest professional marker in this district. A doctor trained at Chandka is a known quantity across Sindh and well beyond it, and in rishta terms the name does more work than the degree level does. It also draws students into Larkana from across upper Sindh, which means the professional pool here is less local than the agricultural one.
Write the institution. Around it sit the other salaried lines — district administration, the courts, teaching, and the colleges — and they should be written out just as plainly.
Land here is rice land
This is the rice belt, and among the landed families standing is counted in acres under rice, with wheat and sugarcane behind it. A holding with its own mill, or a family in the rice trade rather than only growing it, is a different proposition again, and anyone from the district will understand the difference immediately.
Say the taluka with it — Ratodero, Dokri, Bakrani, Naudero, or further out towards Qambar and Shahdadkot. A village address is read as more than an address here, and leaving it at "Larkana" throws away information the other family actually wants.
Whether you can search abroad depends on what the family does
This is the sharpest thing we can tell a Larkana family, and it is different from the advice we would give in Punjab. For most households here the overseas pool is genuinely thin: upper Sindh has not migrated in the numbers Mirpur or Gujrat did, and a general search of Britain or Canada will come back nearly empty.
For medical families it is a different map. Doctors out of Chandka and the other Sindh colleges have gone to the Gulf, the United Kingdom and the United States in real numbers, and a family whose son or daughter is a doctor is searching a pool that actually exists. If that is you, set the profession filter along with the country and the search behaves completely differently.
Either way, set the residency field. A work visa in Riyadh usually means a posting and a marriage lived partly back here; a permanent resident in Canada means a settled life abroad. Both are honest answers and they are different marriages.

Often it is, and that is the household’s own business. It is also the one case where a cheap blood test before the nikah is worth the afternoon.
